The Trouble is We speak in different Tongues
All the Patriotic 'Battle-Songs' We've Sung
We both sang our Songs Of Freedom, but none of Us were Free
The Past was never Laid to Rest, No Chance for Liberty.
As I stare at You through Bitter Eyes and You stare back the same at Me
We're not to Blame for the Bigotry, Inherited You See
On Our Father's knees, We'd Fight and Die and Kill Our Enemy
We're really not so Different You and Me...

I Know most of You just want to Live as OneWill We ever find an Answer? Will We ever Live as One?
Will We ever Learn the Difference between The Bible and The Gun?
And What Will We tell Our Children? Can We Tell Them What We've Done?
How Strangers in The Darkness took Fathers from their Sons

Sure We both Pray to the same Spirit, The Father and The Son
But Fear He has Us in His Grasp, We're Afraid to Turn Our Back
Afraid We'll be the Victim of a Sectarian Attack
And Who will comfort the Innocents? The Ones Who suffer Most.
Tell those Who Pull the Trigger, that Guilt will be Their Ghost.

Will We ever find an Answer? Will We ever Live as One?
